Editing a Product

Seller Guide: Editing a Product

Once a product is created you can edit it at any time by selecting "Products" from the menu on the left on the vendor panel.

From here select the product you wish to edit. In the product edit mode you will have a few more options than when it was created. The additional tabs are described here.

The fist two tabs (Options / Variations) may appear similar. The main difference is that "Variations" allows for deep inventory management. While the two features are similar, they differ significantly in behavior, inventory tracking, and storefront display.

Learn more about the difference between Product Options and Product Variations in this article.

Options Tab

Manage selectable options like size, color, or material.

To add an option, type the name of the option in the box and click "Add" from the drop down:

Once the option is selected you will have two options:

  1. Deactivate the option by clicking on the down arrow next to "Active" and selecting "Deactivate". You can also reactivate the option in this way.
  2. Hover over the variant and you will see a settings wheel appear. Click on the settings wheel for options to "Delete" or "Edit".

Select "Edit" from the settings wheel:

A new window will pop up with two tabs. Let's run through the menus. At the end, you will see a screen shot of how each of these fields map to your product page:

General
  • Name: The name you gave your variant
  • Position: You may use this field if you have more than one product option. The position is relative to any other product options you create.
  • Vendor: You
  • Type: Show either radio options or drop down options (the sample image will show radio)
  • Description: This will show up when you hover over the (i) icon on the options
  • Comment: Grey text visible in the option section of the product page
  • Required: A checkbox
  • Missing variants handling: Important - if the required checkbox is checked you must also choose "Display message" for missing variant handling. If "Hide option completely" is selected here, the customer will be able to add the product to cart without issues.

Variants

In this tab you'll be able to add the variants to your option.

  • Position: relevant to the other variants
  • Name: The variants
  • Modifier / type: Using these fields you will be able to select an upcharge to the base price, based on the variant selected.
    • % adds the selected percentage of the base price for this variant. For example, if the base price for a widget is $100. You may select the color variant "blue" to be 50% more, or $50. Therefore, ordering the widget would cost $150 ($50 variant cost + $100 base cost)
    • $ is a dollar value over the base price
  • Status active/disabled
  • Arrow: click this for more options
    • Here you are able to upload a thumbnail image to represent each variant

Variations Tab

Variations are similar to Product option, but using a variation enables inventory-managed Variants.

This feature runs deep, you can learn more about this from this CS Cart Product Variations article.

Files to Sell Tab

Upload digital files customers purchase. Learn more about adding digital products from this CS cart article

Note: Downloadable products will be reviewed for validity and value prior to being accepted
to the website.

Subscriptions Tab

When a product is out of stock, you may allow customers to subscribe for an email notification. It will be sent automatically to inform the customers that the product is available again.

Each product has its own list of email addresses, available on the Subscribers tab. When a product is in stock again, the notification is sent to all subscribers, and then their emails are removed from the subscriber list of the product.

As you can see, the process is entirely automated. However, you can add subscribers manually, if necessary.

Attachments Tab

In this section you can add downloadable files that are available without charge to the product.

Examples of these would be user manuals, schematics, or warranty information.

Product Bundles Tab

The product bundles option gives the opportunity to offer discounts through bundling different products.

Reviews Tab

You will be able to see reviews left by customers on this tab.
When a customer leaves a review, it is routed to the roamerstore.com administrator to review for validity. Once approved, you will be able to see reviews for each product under the review tab.

You will not have the option to edit or hide any reviews.
